Lipová-lázně is a picturesque lying locality in the valley of the small river called Staříč on the border of mountain ranges of High Jesionik (Hrubý Jeseník) and the Rychlebské Mountains (Rychlebské Hory). The centre-piece of the locality lies at an altitude of 498 m above sea level, and the nearby top of Šerák (spelled: Sherak) 1351 m above sea level Lipová is a part of the Jeseník region, and as regards its administrative situation- a part of the Olomunec Province. Historically belongs to the territory of Silesia, whereat the western border of the commune creates the border between Silesia and Moravia. In the west, in the point called Smrk -hraničník it meets a border with Poland.
